Introducing the FoodTusker: Your First Look

We’ve all been there—you open the fridge and find a mystery container pushed to the back. Was it from last week? The week before? You’re not sure… so it ends up in the trash. It’s wasteful, frustrating, and all too common.
In my household, I manage the food and I've been frustrated with this problem for a while now. When I researched this, I found that food waste is a really big problem--like billions of dollars in waste. In the US alone, we wasted 133 billion pounds of food, valued at over $160 billion dollars--and that's only in 2010. Those figures have only gone up since then.
When I was growing up, I'd frequently hear my mother tell me to eat everything on my plate because there were starving children in Africa. Well, it's still true. While the US is throwing away about 31% of food it buys, there are hundreds of millions of people starving and billions that are food insecure.
As a life-long tinkerer, I decided to do something about it. I invented the FoodTusker. The FoodTusker is a smart food container system. I wanted to bring the old food container into the 2020s. The FoodTusker system allows you to look up exact food expirations (no need to guess) and provides a neat little display that shows what food is in the container and when it'll expire. In addition, when your food is due to expire, you'll get a notification to either eat or toss your food. You can take action before your food goes bad. This helps you avoid wasting food and giving yourself the gross task of cleaning up a rotting mess.
In addition, the FoodTusker can also track the temperature in your refrigerator and help you and your family members stay coordinated on the leftover food.
Come join the movement! While food waste is a huge problem, if everyone chips away at it, we can all make a really big difference. The FoodTusker empowers you to waste less and save more--one meal at a time.
